How to Fast Travel in Final Fantasy 16: A Step-by-Step Guide
In Final Fantasy 16, players follow the journey of Clive, the First Shield of Rosaria, during a time when the Blight is wreaking havoc across various nations. As the kingdoms struggle to deal with this crisis, they turn against each other, resulting in widespread conflict and countless deaths.
When starting a new game, players may need some time to grasp the full depth of the story, but they will experience the fast-paced combat right from the start. The game boasts stunning visuals, with each region appearing more breathtaking than the last. While exploring these areas on foot can be challenging, Final Fantasy 16 fortunately offers a fast travel system.
How to Use Fast Travel
Fast travel isn’t immediately available; players must first complete a few objectives. After undergoing a training session with the Lord Commander, Clive is summoned by the Archduke. Though the destination isn’t far, players can take the opportunity to explore the surroundings and collect items.
Afterward, players guide Clive to meet his father, who assigns him the task of investigating a potential goblin infestation. Clive is instructed to regroup with the main force once the issue is dealt with. Following this conversation, players must escort Clive to his room. Before the mission begins, a series of cutscenes featuring Clive, Jill, the Archduke, and his wife will play out.
At dawn, Clive prepares for the mission alongside his companions, and at this point, the map will appear, showing the location of Clive’s next destination, activating the fast travel system.
Players must move the cursor to the specified location on the map. To initiate fast travel in Final Fantasy 16, they need to press and hold the X button. Once the action is completed, Clive and his companions will be instantly transported to the selected destination.
Early in the game, Clive has limited locations available for travel, but as the story progresses, more destinations will gradually become accessible. For exploration, players can choose to travel on foot or ride a Chocobo, a feature confirmed by the game’s director, Hiroshi Takai. Each region is packed with different monsters and items, encouraging players to explore every corner thoroughly.
