Final Fantasy 16: Lets you fight alongside the dog
Final Fantasy 16 Introduces an Easier Difficulty Setting and a Combat-Ready Canine Companion.
At The Game Awards 2022, the release date for Final Fantasy 16 was announced, accompanied by an eye-catching new trailer. Square Enix has since shared additional details about the game on the PlayStation Blog (opens in new tab), including the introduction of a more accessible Story mode for players.
Final Fantasy 16 offers two modes: story mode and action mode. The story mode provides a more relaxed experience, automatically executing dodge moves at times and simplifying Eikon summon attack activations with easier button combinations. In contrast, the action mode delivers the intensity expected from a contemporary action-focused game.
Additionally, new information about Torgal, protagonist Clive’s loyal canine companion, has been revealed. Torgal manages to survive the disaster that occurs early in Final Fantasy 16, reuniting with Clive a decade later to accompany him throughout the game.
In combat, Torgal proves to be a fierce ally, holding his own against enemies and providing Clive with healing support in certain situations. Players can direct Torgal on the battlefield, and with well-timed commands, Clive and Torgal can execute powerful combined attacks.
In other news, the highly sought-after Final Fantasy 16 Collector’s Edition was unveiled yesterday. Priced at a substantial $300, this deluxe edition includes a large Ifrit statue, an in-game world map, a steelbook, a physical game disc, and a set of pins representing the eight Eikons. The Collector’s Edition is set to launch alongside the main game on June 22, 2023.
